Leaves are falling, and now is an appropriate time to pay homage to Cyndy Callog.

We first met Cyndy Callog at the Worthington Arts Festival in the mid 1990s, where she was selling her color prints of birds and blooms. We were captivated by her finely detailed paintings and due to our own love of flowers and birds, we began purchasing prints from her to display in our home. We have never tired of her work.

For several years, thereafter, we made a point of seeking her out at the annual festival in Worthington, for we not only admired her work, but we also enjoyed the warm conversations we had with her at her kiosk.

We were delighted to discover that her art studio was located in southern Michigan not far across the border from South Bend, Indiana. So on a trip to South Bend to visit our dear friends, Laurie and Mark Krcmaric, we decided to contact Cyndy with the prospect of visiting her studio. She warmly accepted our bold self-invitation, and we were allowed to experience her private lovely gardens where she painted her canvases. Like Monet and others, her gardens and studio were a visual oasis.

Now two decades later, in preparation for this blogpost, I googled Cyndy and discovered that she had recently written, illustrated, and published, “A Windy Day”. I ordered a copy, and once again, the beauty of Cyndy’s artistry enthralls me.

So on this beautiful Autumn day at Merry Mount, I shout out to Cyndy Callog.
