Merry Mount: Alpha & Omega
On July 25, 2013, we began an experience we called Merry Mount, and on July 20, 2026 a new chapter of the experience began.

It was perhaps pretentious to give a name to a rural property, but why not? We chose "Merry Mount" after discovering the following passage from a short story by Nathaniel Hawthorne:
“But May, or her mirthful spirit, dwelt all the year round at Merry Mount, sporting with the Summer months, and reveling with Autumn, and basking in the glow of Winter's fireside. Through a world of toil and care she flitted with a dreamlike smile, and came hither to find a home among the lightsome hearts of Merry Mount.”
Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804-1864)
A “mirthful spirit” has certainly permeated our home throughout our stay. That energy has been captured and then shared with the “lightsome hearts” that have migrated through Merry Mount. I offer these photos that paint a thousand words.

It is with heartfelt gratitude that Rett and I express our immense joy for our time at
Merry Mount. All the best to the new owners.
