"There are only two seasons: winter and baseball." ~ Bill Veeck, Jr.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." ~ Rogers Hornsby

Following contentious negotiations between Players and Owners in early 2022, Opening Day of Baseball arrives today on April 7, 2022. For many, Spring arrives on Opening Day; and for the Woliver clan-we wait with excitement to see how our favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves, will take the field. Do we dare believe in a repeat of 2021? Yes!

Dorsey Lou and Adam Woliver stand proudly beside the 2021 World Series Trophy.

Words about Baseball? I defer to the Greats.

Yogi Berra

Let us begin with five Proverbs from the Book of Yogi Berra:

"It ain’t over till it’s over."

"You can observe a lot by just watching."

"Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical."

"I knew the record would stand until it was broken."

"How can you think and hit at the same time?"

*******************************

Ted Williams and Babe Ruth

"Baseball was, is, and always will be the best game in the world to me." ~ Babe Ruth

"Baseball is the only field of endeavor where a man can succeed three times out of ten and be considered a good performer." - Ted Williams

Joe DiMaggio

"There is always some kid who may be seeing me for the first or last time, I owe him my best." ~ Joe DiMaggio

Hank Aaron and Bobby Cox

"My motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was keep swinging." ~ Hank Aaron

Ty Cobb

"Every great batter works on the theory that the pitcher is more afraid of him than he is of the pitcher." ~ Ty Cobb

Chipper Jones

So on this Opening Day 2022 the Woliver Clan shouts, "Play Ball!"
