Listen to "Dawn" from Four Sea Interludes from "Peter Grimes" by Benjamin Britten (3:29)

On Sunday morning, May 24, 2026, I joined my friends Tim and Steve Missall and their friend Kevin on a charter fishing expedition on Lake Huron. We launched from 1 E.Harbor Lane, Harrisville, MI, thirty minutes southwest of Hubbard Lake.

Five pertinent takeaways by Ernest Hemingway:

“But man is not made for defeat.  A man can be destroyed but not defeated.”

“Let him think that I am more man than I am and I will be so.”

“I may not be as strong as I think, but I know many tricks and I have resolution.”

“Now is no time to think of what you do not have. Think of what you can do with what there is.”

“Every day is a new day.  It is better to be lucky.  But I would rather be exact.  Then when luck comes you are ready.”

-Ernest Hemingway
